The best robot vacuum can clean and vacuum your floors with no effort. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detectors) are both positives.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair as well as large debris, and wash them when required. They also have a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and ensure better cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. next -sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
